Richlands, East Duplin tie

The Daily News

BEULAVILLE - East Central 2-A Conference foes East Duplin and Richlands went back and forth, but both teams couldn't pull away as their soccer game ended in a 2-2 tie on Monday.

"It was a good soccer game," said Panthers head coach Joey Jones. "Each team had some opportunities and both goalkeepers made some good saves."

East Duplin got on the board in the first half with a goal by Javier Murillo, but Richlands' Pat Bell tied it up in the second half.

The Wildcats earned their first lead when Edgar Garcia found the net in the first 10-minute overtime session. However, the Panthers wouldn't give up as Tyson Lane found the net in the second overtime.

"The guys didn't give up," Jones said. "The guys played hard until the last whistle."

Blake Lanier had two assist for the Panthers.
